Forests in Watercolors
WHY WATERCOLOR = EXPERIMENTAL
Every art medium has its own qualities for experimention, playing, and ultimately portraying technique, skill, emotion. I consider watercolor my experimental medium, the mystery that may unfold as one applies - wet on wet techniques, additives to create expressive results, allowing colors to run, merge and mix.
Playing with color in a series of butterflies was perfect for thank you cards.
Gesso used as an underpainting creates texture, as the watercolor no longer absorbs into the paper, instead produces exciting effects as it settles on the surface of the gesso - as in the Triptych Forest in Watercolors and in Georgia O'Keeffe's World, & My Alaska.

MIXED MEDIA - COLLAGE
I enjoy painting papers, adhering them to the watercolor paper, so it becomes an integral part of my work
I had painted a series of birds and they needed a place to perch
